Attock edge ahead after damp first day of Play-Offs

Attock have their noses in front of Stourport, Milford Hall and Wellington after rain wiped out much of the opening round of 2025 play-off action.
Led by an outstanding partnership of 115 from their experienced left-handed opening pair Omar Ali and Arsalaan Mahmood (pictured), the Warwickshire League champions had safely banked four batting bonus points by the time a late-afternoon halt was finally called.
After losing the toss and being asked to take first use of a good Wake Green Road surface the tone was set when Ali smashed his first ball over square leg for six on the way to taking 23 from Oliver Smith's opening over.
Their partnership was eventually broken following a rain break when Ali was held in the deep for a fluent 46-ball 58.
Thereafter Mahmood became increasingly dominant alongside a series of partners who perished looking to further increase the run-rate as more lost time reduced the match to 38 overs-per-side.
Although he was eventually fifth out for an outstanding even-time 96 including two sixes and 13 fours, Attock were well placed at 240-5 from 33 overs when the players left the field for a final time.
Spinner Brian Mudzinganyama who claimed 3-39 was the pick of a Wellington attack whose efforts earned them two bonus points.

Only 28.2 overs were possible at Milford Hall where the home side had reached 116-5 against Stourport when play was eventually abandoned for the day.
The Worcestershire League champions made the best possible start when veteran seamer Ryan Derrick removed home skipper Jordan Bulpitt courtesy of a catch feathered down the leg side to Peter Hawk from the opening ball of the day.
And when Junaid Iqbal pinned Dominic Afford lbw the hosts were struggling at 18-2.
A useful partnership of 60 between Sanjula Bandara (33) and Niall McHale, who made 53 from 80 balls, then lifted Milford spirits.
However, the loss of both well-set batters and Ibbadat Thaman left the contest in the balance when stumps were drawn with both clubs having banked three bonus points.
Siddath Ahhuja led the way with the ball for the Worcestershire League champions by claiming 2-16.
