Note to all Cricket Clubs
Last summer two local cricketers contracted Legionnaires disease, which is an extremely dangerous illness with an approximate 20% fatality rate. This was after showering after their cricket match. Fortunately both cricketers survived but were nonetheless extremely ill.
Everyone involved obviously wants no repetition of this and we all have a duty to prevent other cases wherever possible.
BDPCL is issuing this note to remind clubs of their statutory duties in checking their water systems to ensure that Legionella is not present.
Key guidance from the Health & Safety Executive can be obtained from www.hse.gov.uk/legionnaires/
Please check this guidance and ensure you take the appropriate action before the season.
