 Go Back

The Birmingham Cricket Premier League are sad to hear of the death of Roy McClaren following a short illness. We extend our condolences to Roy's family and friends.

Roy played cricket for Kings Heath CC and Pickwick CC for many years before joining Mitchell and Butlers before finishing his playing days at Worcester City Sports CC

Cricket was not only a sport for Roy, but became his career. As he tirelessly and expertly gave his working life to being a well respected and loved groundsman.

Roy served as Head Groundsman at Worcestershire County Cricket Club for eighteen years during arguably their most successful period in its proud history.

Following his retirement Roy helped set up the Worcestershire Association of Groundsman, he was always happy to help clubs with advice and share his knowledge.

A humble, warm, loving family man and a great friend to many. Roy's funeral will be held on Monday 3rd November at 10.30 a.m. at Wyre Forest Crematorium, Stourport -on- Severn DY13 8DE and afterwards in the Graeme Hick Suite at Worcestershire CCC.
