Division One
Warwickshire prospect Hamza Shaikh hit a majestic century for league leaders Knowle & Dorridge but it proved insufficient to see off visitors Moseley who cruised to an eight-wicket victory.
Batting first, K&D’s 19-year-old opener smashed 133 off 160 deliveries including 11 4s and six 6s but others failed to master Moseley’s bowlers with Hishaam Khan taking 4-65, Yadvinder Singh 3-49 and Eesa Nadeem 3-25 including the wicket of their hosts’ star turn. George Baines added 24 runs at the end of the innings before K&D were dismissed in the 54th over for 219.
That looked like it could be enough when both Moseley openers fell in quick succession to leave the visitors on 10/2. But Andrew Umeed and Asim Shoaib had other ideas, putting on 213 between them to steer their side to victory. Scotland’s Umeed finished on 106 not out with his partner still there on 97.
Himley opener Ollie Walker hit a rapid century to help his side to a six-wicket win against Barnards Green who earlier posted 201/7 from their overs. The hosts took fewer than 40 overs to reach their target, helped by Walker’s 111 off 102 balls, a tally that included five 6s.
Barnards Green opener Olly Rogoff had previously top-scored with 77 and Francis Moore added 50 while Connor Smith (3-29) was the pick of the Himley bowlers.
Opener Viken Kedariya carried his bat to help secure Smethwick’s six-wicket win at Harborne, finishing unbeaten on 111 off 109 balls. A useful 48 from Bilal Shafayat helped the visitors over the line after Harborne were dismissed for 207, with Yasir Ali taking 5-64. A run-a-ball 72 from Kshitiz Sharma was the highlight for Tom Arnold's side.
Berkswell’s Amrit Basra produced the batting display of the day as he stormed to 171 off just 116 balls against Shrewsbury at The Lant. His innings included 18 4s and six 6s as he helped his side to 257 all out. But that was not enough to halt their high-flying opponents for whom George Hargrave scored 59 and Peter Clark 52. An unbeaten 47 off 36 deliveries from Llyr Thomas then saw them home.
Second-placed Halesowen picked up a winning draw at home to Wolverhampton. Batting first, their huge 327/7 was inspired by opener Matt Pardoe’s 109 while Jack Stanley took 5-57. In reply, Wolverhampton struggled to deal with seamer Ed Bragg who bagged 5-64 including the wickets of opening pair Stanley and Ramanjot Jaswal with just 26 on the board. The visitors rallied though and were on 209/7 at the close with former skipper Will Nield (59) top scoring.
Ombersley’s match with Barnt Green also finished in a draw. Teenage talent Seth Essenhigh top scored for the hosts with 87 of their 230 all out. Worcestershire's Henry Cullen (61) then led the way for Barnt Green whose response faded to 178-8.
Division Two
Stourbridge stormed to the top of the table after a dazzling bowling display saw off former front-runners Tamworth by just eight runs in a low-scoring encounter.
Batting first, the Black Country side were dismissed for just 119, opener Jujhar Johal (34) the only batsman to find much fluency against Tamworth's spin pair Jason Jakeman (5-21) and Tom Smith (4-27).
But the Stourbridge bowlers also made the most of the conditions, skittling out their visitors for a meagre 111 in the 26th over with Syed Bukhari finishing with 4-8 and Dominic O’Reilly 4-38. Scott Daly top scored with 30.
Kenilworth Wardens climbed to third place with a handsome 101-run victory over struggling Handsworth. The Birmingham outfit’s Krish Chauhan took 5-52 but there were still three half-centuries for Wardens courtesy of Andrew Leering (69), Ben Blakemore (67) and Ben Rex (60no) as they finished their innings on 259/9. Medium-pacer Amun Bal then swept the visitors aside, taking 7-33 from his 17 overs. Rex also claimed two wickets as Handsworth were dismissed for 158.
An excellent performance from Worfield’s Sri Lankan all-rounder Rishin Patabedige (pictured) helped his side beat fellow high-fliers Dorridge by five wickets, taking them to within a point of their fourth-placed visitors.
Patabedige initially claimed 5-45 from 13 overs as the visitors were dismissed for 255. One of his victims was Ed Thompson whose entertaining 93 off 99 balls included six 6s. After Joe Wright laid the reply's foundations with a solid 50, Patabedige then hit 86 from 88 balls before skipper Greg Wright saw his side home with an unbeaten 40.
A 138-run third-wicket partnership between Rahul Kaushal (94) and Charlie Home (106no) helped Shifnal to a 47-run win at West Bromwich Dartmouth. The pair helped their side reach 275/4 and that was too much for their opponents in spite of the efforts of former Warwickshire all-rounder Ateeq Javid (71) and Shayaan Tahir (66). Home capped a fine afternoon by taking 3-47.
In-form Pakistani all-rounder Saad Naseem also enjoyed a good day with bat and ball, helping Old Hill to victory at Coventry & North Warwickshire. His 59 off 50 balls led the way as Old Hill posted 195 and he then followed up with 4-43 as the home side were sent packing 35 runs short of their target.
Leamington opener Harrison Smith scored 100 for his side at Kidderminster but the visitors had to settle for a winning draw. Spa reached 239/8 at the end of their allocation with Tom Warner hitting a swashbuckling 41 not out off 14 balls including five 6s.
Warwick University skipper Shailan Srikanthan then took 4-32 off 17 overs to stifle the Chester Road side with Warner adding 2-18 as Kidderminster reached 180/8 at the close, Mateen Khan top scoring with 51.
