 Go Back

Division One

George Maddy hit an unbeaten 93 to help table-topping Knowle & Dorridge to their fourth straight win - by an eight-wicket margin over Himley.

The Leicestershire prospect struck four 6s and nine 4s as the Station Road side eased to 205/2 to wrap up maximum points after their visitors posted 203/8. Neil Pinner was also there at the end on 31 not out while Hamza Shaikh made 43 for K&D who reached their target after 39 overs.

Himley had earlier found life difficult against pace duo Tom Davis (4-60) and Freddie Fowler (3-58) with skipper Oliver Westbury top scoring with 38.

K&D have a ten-point lead over Barnt Green who also picked up maximum points thanks to their eight-wicket home win over Barnards Green. Three wickets apiece for Archie Greaves-Hall (3-38) and Ben Chapman-Lilley (3-26) helped dismiss the visitors for 200, with Joseph Harrison leading the way with 52.

In reply, an opening partnership of 144 between Chapman-Lilley (73 no) and Henry Cullen (87) eased the hosts most of the way to a win which was completed in the 45th over.

Reigning champions Smethwick had to settle for a winning draw against stubborn visitors Shrewsbury. Half-centuries from Amir Khan (78) and Viken Kedariya (87) helped the hosts to 315/5 but their Shropshire opponents dug in to reach 241/6 largely due to an impressive unbeaten 127 from opener Peter Clark. The pick of the Smethwick bowlers was Indian spinner Sagar Udeshi who finished with 3-21.

Moseley remain rooted to the foot of the table after their four-wicket defeat at the hands of visiting Dorridge. A fine 106 off just 79 balls from former Somerset batter Andrew Umeed helped Usman Awan's side to set their local rivals a testing target of 265/8.

When Dorridge slipped to 48/5 a comfortable home win seemed inevitable, but a superb sixth-wicket stand of 207 between Imaad Mahmood (93) and the outstanding Montcin Hodge who carried his bat for an unbeaten 131, saw the visitors most of the way to a win which was finally completed in the 52nd over.

Excellent bowling from Warwickshire veteran Oliver Hannon-Dalby (4-25) helped Harborne wrap up a seven-wicket home win over Kenilworth Wardens who slip into the relegation zone as a result.

Eddie Miller and Felix Haines also both claimed two wickets to dismiss the South Warwickshire visitors for 150 before a century partnership between Alexei Kervezee (68no) and Tejas Wagle (37no) eased the hosts to 152/3 inside 25 overs.

The other top-flight contest saw Ombersley romp to a nine-wicket victory over Halesowen who after opting to bat first were seen off in 28 overs for just 88. Joel Cox led the way for Ombersley with 5-35 before Worcestershire's Dan Lategan then raced to an unbeaten 45 as the home side reached their target in the eighth over.

Division Two

Wolverhampton put the skids under Berkswell’s charge to the title by claiming a 51-run victory at The Lant. But they did not have it all their own way, being dismissed for 167 before their bowlers stepped up to secure the win.

Before the break Wolverhampton’s Staffordshire all-rounder Reeve Evitts (53) was the only batter to make an impression while off-spinner Umar Shaikh took 4-23. But with Warwickshire’s Nathan Gilchrist sweeping aside the Berkswell top order on his way to 4-33, while Will Jones and Asad Ullah claimed two wickets apiece, the league leaders were then seen off for just 116.

That result allowed nearest challengers Attock to close to within 19 points of top spot thanks to a 116-run win at Kidderminster. The in-form Rizwan Hussain made an even-time 122 for the visitors who closed on 255/9 while Nathan Jukes took 4-75 and Spencer White 3-48 for the Carpet Men.

With Pakistani quick Ahmed Bashir taking 4-47 and off-spinner Gursimrat Singh 3-28 this proved too testing for Kidderminster who were bowled out for 139 in the 41st over.

Shifnal, who were boosted by the return of fit-again skipper Charlie Home, went on to claim a convincing six-wicket win over promotion-chasing Tamworth.

It was another member of the Home family - Worcestershire all-rounder Jack (pictured) - who secured star billing with an unbeaten 93 from 86 balls as the hosts passed Tamworth's 210/9 with ten overs in hand. Oliver Parton also chipped in with 44 after Riley Ward and Ed Smith had earlier provided backbone to the visitors' efforts with the bat.

As the season reaches its midpoint a break of 20 points separates the bottom four clubs from the rest and with Kidderminster's improved red-ball form lifting them off the foot a nervous three months also looks to be in prospect at Worfield, West Bromwich Dartmouth and Old Hill.

A rapid 64-ball 74 from Pakistani pro Saad Naseem was not enough to prevent Old Hill falling to a six-wicket defeat at fast-improving Milford Hall. The visitors were all out for 167, with Will Davis and Theo Wylie sharing six wickets, before Davis hit an unbeaten 37 and skipper Jordan Bulpitt 39 to help the home side to 171/4.

A half-century from Vriitya Aravind (53) plus consistent contributions through the card helped Stourbridge to a five-wicket win against visiting Worfield. The Shropshire side posted 225/9 thanks to captain Ross Aucott's 90 only to slip to defeat in the 53rd over.

A 101-run second-wicket partnership between Jacob Sargeant (75) and Jon Wigley (49) helped Leamington claim a winning draw at WB Dartmouth. The Warwickshire side posted 254/9 and then restricted their opponents to 170/6 with Bruce Thomason top-scoring with 69.
