Division One
It was top against bottom in Division One but leaders Knowle & Dorridge were forced to work for their victory at home to Moseley before finally claiming a 15-run win.
Eesa Nadeem (3-29) was the pick of the Moseley bowlers but there were also three wickets apiece for Usman and Ali Awan as they dismissed the hosts for 207. Callum Bennett top scored with 50.
Ali Awan then hit 51 as the basement boys looked to cause an upset but after battling through eight overs their last pair were finally removed by the final delivery of the match by Freddie Fowler who finished with 3-38.
The chasing trio lost ground on K&D with second-placed Smethwick only picking up a winning draw while Barnt Green lost at home to Halesowen.
Smethwick’s grip on the title was further loosened as they failed to dislodge a stubborn visiting Kenilworth Wardens side who enhanced their survival hopes by battling through 60 overs to salvage a losing draw.
Viken Kedariya led the way for Smethwick with an unbeaten 129 before a useful 51 from Deepak Khatri enabled Rawait Khan to declare on 291/5 after 50 overs. But their South Warwickshire opponents, for whom Jamie Turner grafted nearly 40 overs for a patient 48 not out, were still hanging on at the close on 175/7.
A century from Jacques Banton (100) was not enough to save Barnt Green who suffered a 20-run home defeat to Halesowen who reached 275/8.
Both visiting openers recorded half-centuries - Joe Porter top-scored with 68 and Arun Kalsi added 57 - while skipper Wes Griffiths was there at the close on 47 not out. Barnt Green then lost early wickets and although they rallied through Banton and Dan Meredith (42) they were eventually all out for 255 against a Halesowen attack in which Masihullah Qazkhill claimed 3-46.
Ombersley were the day’s big winners, storming to a 203-run home win over Himley. Openers Sinel Gunarathne (50) and Dan Lategan (85) put on 103 before Yusuf Khalil (84) and Toby Cox (48) helped the hosts pile up 330/9 despite the best efforts of Cameron Jones who took 4-39. Worcestershire star Lategan was also then the pick of the Ombersley bowlers, bagging 4-14 from his eight overs while Joel Cox took 3-31 from ten as Himley were bowled out for 127.
Skipper Andy Sutton's 4-30 helped Harborne see off visitors Barnards Green by a three-wicket margin. With Felix Haines also claiming 3-16, the Malvern-based visitors were dismissed for 194 despite Worcestershire opener Rehaan Edavalath making 70.
In reply, opener Eddie Miller made 72 and with Arjun Nahal adding a useful 48, the home side survived a middle-order wobble to reach 197/7 with nearly ten overs in hand.
Shrewsbury beat Dorridge by 45 runs. Rhodri Evans (64) helped the Shropshire side to 260 and they then had their opponents back in the pavilion for 215 with Evans taking three of the wickets. Imaad Mahmood top scored with 83.
Division Two
Top two Berkswell and Attock went head-to-head at The Lant and it was the visitors who took the spoils, their five-wicket win allowing them to close to within a point of their hosts.
And with Tamworth also picking up maximum points courtesy of a low-scoring win at Worfield, just seven points now separate the leading trio.
Batting first, Berkswell made an impressive 305 thanks largely to a fine 130-ball 121 from Warwickshire opener Vansh Jani. He was ably assisted by skipper Chris Whittock (65) in a third-wicket alliance worth 102 before George Baines then added a useful 42. Pakistani pro Ahmed Bashir was the pick of Attock's bowlers, taking 5-49, while Northants' Saif Zaib also grabbed three wickets.
Attock's 2025 Warwickshire Premier League win was built on some impressive batting and this trend has continued in the BDPCL. Berkswell's attack was the latest to feel the heat as the visitors raced to their 306-run target in the 51st over.
A fine stand of 141 between former Dorridge opener Aarib Khan (74) and Omar Ali (85) gave them the perfect start and there was also a half-century from Zaib (54). Big-hitting Rizwan Hussain then took them over the line with his 73 not out coming from just 56 balls including five 6s. Leg-spinner Will Tarrant finished with 4-66.
In contrast to the Berkswell run-fest, batters found it hard going at Worfield where Tamworth won the toss and quickly found themselves in trouble against Ravan Chahal, who claimed 5-60. Alec Price top-scored for the visitors with 42.
However, Worfield's response was soon equally under pressure against James Rudge (3-29) and Ed Smith (3-32) and the hosts were eventually dismissed for just 128 to leave Tamworth victorious by 28 runs.
It is just as close at the foot of the table where the bottom three are separated by two points with WB Dartmouth only seven points better off.
Bottom of the pile Old Hill suffered a hefty 106-run defeat at Black Country neighbours Stourbridge in front of a bumper crowd present to celebrate the BDPCL Presidential year of Tony Lea who represented both clubs during the 1980s and 90s.
Both clubs' bowlers shone - initially Old Hill’s Aamir Manzoor finished with 5-57 as the hosts were seen off for 184. And the visitors could have chased an even lower target had it not been for Jaspreet Singh’s (pictured) 68 off 65 balls.
The Italian international then capped a good afternoon by taking two wickets, as did James Turton. But it was Dan Wale who stole the headlines, taking 6-20 from his 9.3 overs as Old Hill slumped from 74/4 to 78 all out.
Worfield are just above Old Hill and the basement trio is completed by Kidderminster who lost at home to Shifnal by three wickets. A 100-run ninth wicket stand between Dylan Griffiths (54) and Ali Latif (41) helped the Worcestershire side recover to 205/9. However, despite the presence of Worcestershire's Ben Gibbon in the Kiddy attack Shifnal's strong batting line-up raced to 208/7 with plenty of overs in hand thanks to Gibbon's Pears teammate Jack Home who made 88 off 87 balls.
Leamington stalwart Jon Wigley is enjoying a superb season with the bat and his latest stand-out effort - an unbeaten 121 - helped Spa to a 65-run win at Milford Hall. Yohan Liyanage claimed 4-38 for the South Staffs League champions who were left to chase 211/9, only for spinners Shai Srikanthan and Jason Jakeman to share six wickets as Milford Hall were seen off for 146.
Dartmouth are also looking over their shoulders after losing a local derby with Wolverhampton by 79 runs. Half-centuries from George Margetts (63) and Will Nield (55) took the visitors to 247 all out. Former Warwickshire duo Recordo Gordon and Ateeq Javid shared seven wickets for the hosts but their batters then fared less well while being bowled out for 168 by Joe Stanley (3-35) and Will Jones (3-41).
