 Go Back

Division One

Backmarkers Moseley successfully chased down Ombersley with 17 balls to spare to keep alive their survival hopes. Chasing 237/9, Shayaan Abid rattled off 115 from 123 balls, finding the boundary no fewer than 21 times, before Salmaan Ajam joined him and then seized the initiative after his dismissal with an unbeaten 40 that got his side to 238/9.

Joel Cox (85) was the driving force behind Ombersley upping the ante having been at 87/5 at one stage. Eesa Nadeem (3-65) and Ajam (2-17) performed well with the ball for Moseley. Ombersley's Toby Cox (3-53) took the stumps of Ramanjot Jaswal, Aum Raykar and Abdullah Awan but it was not enough to prevent Moseley’s second win of the season.

Knowle & Dorridge stayed top after claiming derby bragging rights with a seven-wicket win at Dorridge. Tom Davis (3-32) took out Dorridge top scorer Imaad Mahmood (58) with tight bowling from Freddie Fowler (2-19) limiting the hosts to 182. There was hope when Adnaan Riaz bowled opener George Maddy for a duck but Neil Pinner (73 no) and Callum Bennett (37 no) got the job done for Knowle & Dorridge at 183/3.

Second-placed Smethwick survived early struggles to beat Barnards Green by five wickets with four overs to spare. The hosts batted first and posted 242/5 with Jeet Varaich (2-41) and Chris Steele (2-60) making the title hopefuls sweat at 41/4. Viken Kedariya steadied Smethwick's ship, going on to register a steady but unbeaten 90, while Deepak Khatri attacked with venom to bag 60 from 50 deliveries with Bilal Shafayat (54 no) getting them over the line on 244/5.

Barnt Green lost more ground at the top with a winning draw at Himley despite Jacques Banton (120) (pictured), bagging another century. The visitors racked up 343/8 with Ben Chapman-Lilley (94) eventually ran out after nearly three-and-a-half hours at the crease and Daniel Meredith (51) maintaining the momentum. Himley captain Ben Robinson (4-92) did some damage lower down the order and his colleagues kept pace with the bat, Spencer Grove (78), Joe Wright (44), James Clark (42) and Cameron Jones (50 no) doing enough to avoid defeat.

Shrewsbury pulled away from the relegation places with an eight-wicket win at second-bottom Kenilworth Wardens. The Warwickshire side started well with 85 from the opening partnership of Alex Wilkinson (44) and Oliver Dandy (65) before Peter Clark (3-59) got rid of both. Gabe Downes (3-31) was then influential in limiting Shrewsbury’s target to 206. It looked like Peter Clark (106 no) and George Hargrave (90) might get the job done without any help but Shrewsbury reached 207/2 in the 32nd over.

Ed Bragg (4-21) and Ciaran Baker-Smith (3-34) worked wonders with the ball to secure Halesowen a 31-run win at home to Harborne. The hosts were bowled out for 158 in the 44th over, Simon Gregory (74) carrying the fight after Rayyen Khan (3-39) had swiftly worked his way through the top of the card. Hasan Mahmood (29), Tejas Wagle (35) and Alexei Kervezee (25) gave it their all but Harborne’s chase was ended on 127.

Division Two

Tamworth’s promotion bid was knocked off course by a six-wicket home defeat to Kidderminster at Hints Road. Having opted to bat, the hosts never recovered from opener Daniel Baker’s early dismissal for a duck with Liam Weston (4-49) also taking out Jacob Flower for four before Ben Jones (4-15) trapped Alex Cappelluti leg-before. That limited Tamworth to 7/3 inside six overs and while Riley Ward (13) briefly steadied things, the next five wickets after his dismissal came at the cost of just 12 further runs. Tailenders Tom Smith (30) and Liam Brazier (22) put up a fight but Tamworth were seen off for 102.

Kidderminster’s Harry Sockett was bowled by the opening delivery from James Rudge (3-25) but Harjivan Dhinsay’s steady 28 and an unbeaten 50 from Nathan Jukes saw the visitors cruise to 103/4, earning Kidderminster much-needed breathing space over the bottom two.

Ahmed Bashir (5-49) was key as Attock hit top spot by efficiently overcoming West Bromwich & Dartmouth by nine wickets. Opener Kobe Herft battled to 53 but had little support other than Brinder Phagura (21) as the visitors were bowled out for 115. Aarib Khan (50) and Omar Ali (58 no) registered no fewer than 15 fours between them, Ali also hitting three sixes, and Usama Khan’s unbeaten five saw Attock reach 116/1 inside an hour and a quarter.

Berkswell slipped to second spot despite winning by six wickets at Shifnal. A second-wicket stand of 135 from Chad Brandwick (83) and Tom Fell (65) inspired the Shropshire side to a tally of 249, one that might have been bigger but for Berkswell's Will Tarrant (3-15) seeing off the tailenders. That gave the title chasers work to do but captain Chris Whittock stepped up with an unbeaten century (100 no), ably assisted by Will Iles (55), to secure a winning tally of 250/4.

Kalan Niyarepola (4-54) was key as Leamington secured a four-wicket win over Stourbridge to stay interested in the battle at the sharp end. Bilal Hussain (34) and Syed Bukhari (73) brought Stourbridge back into contention after a rocky start with a fourth-wicket partnership of 76 before Hussain was caught off Jason Jakeman’s (3-31) delivery and Niyarepola took out Bukhari. Leamington generally stayed ahead of the curve with the bat but really pulled away when Will Richardson (29 no) and Chris Calcott (33) put on a fifth-wicket stand of 41. Niyarepola (22 no) got them over the line, finishing with 157/6.

Milford Hall leapfrogged Wolverhampton in the standings with a two-wicket victory at Danescourt Road. Theo Wylie (6-37) and Yohan Liyange (3-57) did great work with the ball with Joe Stanley (30) and Will Nield (39) the main contributors to Wolverhampton’s tally of 159. Wylie (41) then joined forces with Dominic Afford (46) to counter the early dismissal of opener Jordan Bullpitt and although Joe Stanley (3-70) and Andy Bowyer did all they could to keep things interesting, the unbeaten Will Davis (24 no) ensured Milford Hall got the job done with 163/8.

Worfield climbed out of the drop zone with a winning draw at home to Old Hill. The battle of the morning’s bottom two went the distance with 98 from Ross Aucott, Basit Zaman’s 40 from 30 balls and another 41 from Rohel Peters helping Worfield to set a target of 277/8. Shahrukh Khan (2-56) dismissed Old Hill opener Hasan Ahmed for a duck with Ravan Chahal (3-59) putting the visitors in trouble at 10/2 but Hamza Khan (39), Saad Naseem (57) and Sayf Hosein (50) blocked the home side’s path to victory.
