Division One
Ombersley were the only Division One winners on a day heavily affected by the weather. And they were indebted to the bowling of strike pair Gareth Andrew and George Panayi who took seven wickets between them to help the Worcestershire side to an emphatic eight-wicket win at home to Wolverhampton.
The visitors managed just 99 before being bowled out, skipper Joe Stanley leading the way with 35 which included the only six of the innings. Andrew claimed 4-49 from his 14 overs and former England u19 ace Panayi took 3-30 from his 11 with Henry Hawes, Nathan Bowley and Tom Hinley all taking a wicket apiece.
In reply, there was an early breakthrough for Wolves when Sam Ellis had opener Tom Hinley caught behind in the first over but unbeaten knocks from Declan Lines (24no) and Seth Essenhigh (32no) were sufficient to ease Ombersley to victory in the 21st over.
Shrewsbury’s match at Knowle & Dorridge and Barnards Green's game at Moseley were abandoned due to rain with the other three contests being drawn.
Leaders Halesowen scored heavily at home to Berkswell, reaching 246/4 at the end of 32 overs with half-centuries coming from Chris Whittock (87) and Luke Tulacz (54). Alexei Kervezee added a useful 38 not out while Theo Wylie bagged two wickets.
The visitors were in all sorts of trouble at 10/4 but Callum Bennett’s 20 not out was vital as Berkswell held on at 43/6. Ed Bragg proved a star with the ball taking 3-15.
A 71-run partnership between Herefordshire’s Ben Chapman-Lilley (41no) and captain Amrinder Brar (51) helped Barnt Green to a winning draw at home to Smethwick. The Cherry Hill Road side made 156/6 from their 31 overs with Kadeer Ali, Yasir Ali and Deepak Khatri taking two wickets each.
Losing their first two batsmen with just one run on the board ensured Smethwick had everything to do to salvage something from the game but with Khatri scoring 36 they managed to hold on to reach 96/6.
Harborne picked up the bulk of the points in their draw with visitors Himley. Batting first, the Birmingham hosts reached 182/9 from their 25 overs, Kshitiz Sharma leading the way with a swashbuckling 76 off 59 balls which included seven 4s and four 6s. Ollie Walker took 3-48.
Himley were in trouble early on, being reduced to 11/3 but an unbeaten 65 from skipper Oliver Westbury helped them cling on for a losing draw having reached 128/6. Of the Harborne bowlers, Oliver Hannon-Dalby took 3-33 and Arjun Singh Nahal 2-19.
Division Two
Stourbridge are level on points with Division Two leaders Dorridge after seeing off Shifnal while their title rivals’ match at Old Hill was abandoned.
The omens did not look good for Stourbridge when they were dismissed for just 80, Dominic O’Reilly top scoring with 20 while there were wickets for Cameron Jones (3-23) and Alex Renton (3-9). But any hopes Shifnal had of causing an upset were undone by the bowling of Dan Wale and Jaspreet Singh who scythed through the batting line-up to have their hosts back in the pavilion for just 53, 27 runs short of their target.
Jack Twigger (13) was the only batsman to reach double figures while Singh (5-20) Wale (5-31) had a field day with the ball.
West Bromwich Dartmouth had the better of their draw with neighbours Handsworth. Brinder Phagura (53) and Tim Maxfield (48) helped Dartmouth to 183/7 from 30 overs with Krish Chauhan taking 3-53. In reply, Handsworth pair Sayf Hosein (46mo) and Anton Johnson (50no) kept the scoreboard ticking over but their innings ended at 109/1 at the end of the 21st over.
Riley Ward scored 64 off 42 deliveries to help Tamworth to 181/5 from their 23 overs before Worfield put on 87/6 in reply with Ed Smith taking 3-26 to secure a draw.
Leamington picked up a winning draw at Coventry & North Warwickshire, helped by an impressive 151-run first wicket partnership between Rashawn Worrell (89) and Harrison Smith (60) with Worrell’s knock including six 6s. The innings ended on 175/5 after 22 overs with Kuldeep Diwan impressing with his 4-32.
Coventry lost a raft of early wickets but Arun Kalsi’s 44 maintained their challenge and they finally reached 103/7. Jonathan Wigley was the pick of the Leamington bowlers taking 4-25.
Kidderminster’s match at Kenilworth Wardens was abandoned without a ball being bowled while Old Hill had put on 214/9 before their contest with Dorridge was cut short with the visitors on 98/1. Opener Hasan Ahmed scored 57 off just 38 balls for Old Hill while for Dorridge, former Warwickshire youngster Daniyal Khan was unbeaten at the close on 57 off 41 deliveries.
